Aman Mathur is an Indian fashion designer from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. His expertise lies in the Indian Ethnic work for both men and women, wherein he incorporates Zardozi and cutwork, authenticities of the famous Lucknow city and innovates the traditional creativity with modern variations. He started his own label “Aman Mathur” in the year 2015.
Aman Mathur (Early Life)
In the year 2010, after Aman Mathur completed his degree in Fashion Designing from NIFT, he started assisting Mrs. Erumali, wife to Mr. Abbas (actor) and his work gained a lot of praise and attention. In the same year, he was awarded “Most Impressive Collection”, thanks to the brilliant collection that included intricate cuts & heavy embroidery.
During his initial days, he thoroughly worked with cultural and traditional intricacies with respect to fabrics, designs, colors, styling etc. This amalgamation of cultural aspects with contemporary trends led to him achieving a proficiency in fabric usage, intricate detailing, and handwork. Being born and brought up in North India, he exposed himself to the regional craftsmanship like zardozi, chikan Kari, zari, cutwork, bandhej etc. and his designs portray a lot of these hints.
He also worked with well-known designers from India like Mr. Sidney S. Sladen before starting his own label.
Relocating to his hometown, Lucknow in 2014, Aman Mathur started his own label a year later with two workshops in Chowk area of the city. After a year of successfully catering people and designing their dream outfits with meticulous Lucknow work techniques, he finally opened his studio in Hazratganj in 2016, where he proudly displays all his creations today.
