Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009)

Singer, songwriter, dancer and actor who changed the way people look at music & fashion in large. This KING OF POP & his contributions to creative industries like music & fashion has made him a global star for over four decades.

There’s a attempt to celebrate this exuberant personality for his irreplaceable endowments to fashion industry.

“If fashion says it’s forbidden, I’m going to do it,”

THE CHILD PRODIGY (Early 70s)

Initial years of MJ was wrapped with bright color silhouettes, bell bottom pants, printed tops, plunging neckline with the signature Afro look.

We’ve seen MJ’s style reflection in Louis Vuitton 2013 collection with the use of bold colors in their two toned Basotho blankets.

MJ brought in bling in his late 70s with the usage of sequin & stud work. He enhanced the glamour of the stage life with his contemporary sequined t shirts and bottoms.

Sequin keeps on repeating itself in some or the other form. Fashion forecasters and profound designers have used this fabric accessories in a lot of fascinating ways. Be it the whole sequin dress from Marc Jacobs in 2017 or the minimalist approach by Balmian in 2009.

A lot of designer have played with leather, studs, sequins & beads to bring out peculiar designs and silhouettes.

‘THE HAND OF GOD’ !(Mid 80s)

Dressed like a king to proclaim himself as the ‘King of Pop’ with all the bling and aviators to complete his look.

THE FREE WHEEL !

MJ Bad album 1987 sports a punk biker look with buckled black leather jackets with shiny zippers, studded belt, gauntlet, thick eyeliner and skinny jeans with red stripes on sides.

BUCKLE IT UP.. BABY !!

The ‘BAD’ tour was all with satin jackets, large buckle belts and studded leather straps around his arms and legs. The signature white socks and cropped pants gave it the typical MJ edge.

‘THE SMOOTH CRIMINAL’

The Fedora, slim cropped pants, armband, socks, oxford shoes and a sharp suit sporting retro-sexual fashion made that iconic smooth criminal look.

HELLO 90s !!!

This era marked and extra edge for a suit-for-all fashion by bringing in the concept of metro sexual fashion. Which is where the girls started to sport the look of skin fitted jeans and jackets. With the minimalist metro-sexual look & plain plunging white shirt with cropped black pants, MJ again made the world astounded by his sense of versatility.

LOOK AT THIS !

MJ has marked a lot of fashion detours in the era of experimentation. This is one of such looks during the ‘Dangerous’ world tour where he flaunted the satin gold swimsuit with studs.

LET’S PAINT IT GOLD !

People got amazed by MJ’s futuristic looks of metallic colours. He comes on the stage with mask and takes it off to begin his performance. His jacket is made up of golden and silver satin fabric along with arm guards and leg armour to complete his look. What else can you ask for in a stage performance!!

A PINCH OF SUBTLE ELEGANCE !

Fashion is not what you do, its what you are. MJ proved it to the utmost bit, during his court hearings we saw him featuring power-suits with embellished waistcoats and his signature armband looking as elegant as ever.

WOMEN’s WEAR ?? WHAT’s THAT?

Who said not to try something which is not meant for you? Fashion truly blurs the line between the gender demarcation of what to and what not to wear. In here MJ was spotted Riccardo Tisci’s Givenchy, autumn/winter 2007.
